Jennifer Coles Psychotherapy Norwich, Norfolk, NR1 and Online

Modality

I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy, which means we will focus on unconscious forces at work. We will explore your hopes and desires, your fears, your dreams and memories and think about how your past might be influencing your present. The aim is to bring unconscious material into the light, so that you can free yourself from anything that might be blocking you or holding you back from realising your potential.

Common Issues

Depression
When feelings of defeat and worthlessness have driven desire and motivation underground, we can dig up what has been buried by increasing your self-compassion.

Anxiety
When circling thoughts make it hard to focus, rest or feel at peace, psychotherapy can help you to find ways to calm your nervous system so that your mind becomes a safe place to be.

Loneliness
Sometimes we feel lonely in a crowd, or content in solitude. Loneliness is not about being alone, but feeling disconnected. In psychotherapy, we can make a connection with each other and see if that leads to better connections with yourself and with other people.

Relationships
We are sociable creatures, wired for connection, and yet not all relationships are good for us. We often hear about gaslighting, manipulation, toxicity or abuse. When these things are going on, psychotherapy can help to build up your self-esteem so that you have the courage to leave and to focus on loving yourself before you let someone else in.

LGBTQ+
Life outside heteronormativity is rarely straightforward. In psychotherapy, we can explore how you want to live and to love with authenticity.

Eating Disorders
When your relationship with eating overshadows everything else, psychotherapy can help you to shine a light on whatever is in the shadows, beneath the obsession with food and weight.

Addictions
Often with drugs and alcohol there is a desire to transcend the mundane and to feel more alive. The desire is understandable, but the method is self-destructive. If we can find more creative ways to feel alive, the need for substances decreases and the self is empowered to make healthier choices.
